On behalf of his music clients, Mr. Jacobi has been awarded gold and platinum records from such internationally acclaimed artists as The Eric Clapton Band, Trick Daddy, Inner Circle, Gloria Estefan, The Miami Sound Machine, Marilyn Manson and 2 Live Crew. Mr. Jacobi may be best known for his defense for the obscenity charges against 2 Live Crew. The victory made global news. In his closing statement to the jury, Mr. Jacobi said “Censorship is to art, what lynching is to justice.”

Early in his career, Mr. Jacobi represented most of the exponents of what was then known as the Miami Sound. His clients included Betty Wright, Timmy Thomas, Peter Brown, KC & the Sunshine Band, etc.

Miami’s proximity to the Carribean gave Mr. Jacobi the opportunity to work with Jamaican legends, Jimmy Cliff, Third World, Zap Pow, Yellowman, Dennis Brown, the Bob Marley Foundation, etc. In the area of Jazz, Mr. Jacobi represented such icons as Lionel Hampton (Grammy nominated album ‘Sentimental Journey’), the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Jaco Pastorius and Ahmad Jamal (for whom he acted as Executive Producer for his Grammy nominated album ‘Digital Works’). Other Jacobi clients past and present include Cameo, Firefall, Dave Mason, Jim Capaldi (Traffic), two-time Grammy Award winner Jon Secada, Phillip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice), Internationally renowned actress Gabrielle Anwar (Burn Notice), Michael Winslow (Police Academy 1-7), Ocean Drive Magazine, Producers Ron and Howard Albert (Crosby, Stills & Nash, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones), and visual artist Peter Max.

Mr. Jacobi was attorney and co-founder of Atlantic distributed Radio Records which produced the number one Billboard hit single ‘Stars on 45’ (Gold). Mr. Jacobi’s interest in the music business was so keen that he became involved in the other aspects of the record business, such as marketing, promotion, A&R and sales.

In 1990, Mr. Jacobi was offered his own label. By 1991, Pyramid Records/Sony was a reality. The first signing by Jacobi as label head was Eagles guitarist and vocalist Joe Walsh. The first album was called Ordinary Average Guy. The single, also entitled “Ordinary Average Guy”, leaped to the #1 position on the rock radio chart. Also released on the label were international superstars, Asia, Earth Wind & Fire, Robert Palmer, Stray Cats, The Doobie Brothers, Public Enemy, Lalah Hathaway (#1 single Forever, For Always, For Love), Edgar Winter, Stephen Stills, Earthrise – The Rainforest Album featuring: U2, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Sting, Paul Simon, etc.

In 2005, Pyramid released two-time Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stephen Stills’ first solo studio album in 14 years, “Man Alive!”

Mr. Jacobi has continued to sign young artists to major labels, such as San Francisco rock band Finish Ticket to Atlantic Records, Miami R&B rap trio MMC da Click to Atlantic Records, and Miami rapper Prospectt to Cash Money Records, The Womack Sisters (granddaughters to the legend, Sam Cooke) to FTR Records, Pilly Mae to Roc Nation.

Increasingly Mr. Jacobi’s practice has grown to include the acquisition and distribution of digital rights with clients from China, Israel, France, Indonesia and of course the United States. Launched in September of 2017, the Spotlite mobile application is in the top ten music apps on iTunes and Google Play Store. His clients include Digitrax (the nation’s largest producer of Karaoke music), Promo Only, Core DJ’s, Israeli technology company YouTab, Night Flight Network (80′s & 90′s Iconic Music Television Show) and manufacturing electronics giant Brother International Corporation.
